Oswald Chambers Peace: Living in the Spirit

Day 9 of 30 day devotional.

When God became Incarnate in Jesus Christ for the purpose of removing sin, men saw nothing in Him to desire. But when the heart of a sinner is reached, that is a state of heart and mind able to understand why it was necessary for God to become Incarnate. The worst state a man could ever be in is never to have had a twinge or conviction of sin, everything happy and peaceful, but absolutely dead to the realm of things Jesus represents.

The majority of us are shallow, we do not bother our heads about Reality. We are taken up with actual comforts, with actual ease and peace, and when the Spirit of God comes in and disturbs the equilibrium of our life we prefer to ignore what He reveals.

Reflection Questions: Why is misplaced peace so deadly? Why is easy peace so temporary? Why is comfort the enemy of peace?

Something to think on…

There is a reason we were born at the time we were to be born. I would love to have been there when Jesus was Alive but my time was not meant to be then. My time is now and to walk by Faith and not by sight. Those who were there and saw may have not all believed. So, I think the greatest gift was to be born at the time I was and to believe by Faith. To share it with others so they too may know of Him. That is a great blessing I believe. Post from my fb memories 3 years ago.

We have thoughts of wanting to either be in a different time period or go back to our youth. At the same time we need to remember we are at this point in time for a reason. We were born on that day for a specific reason. As nice as it would be to see things from different time periods or go back to one’s childhood. I look forward to what is to come. Is there something ahead that awaits me or to make a difference in someone’s life?

What will your legacy be?

I hope mine is to make a difference even if it is for one person. I want at least have one impact to spread the gospel to at least one person. My grandparents reached so many and I may never achieve the same thing but I hope to reach at least one. Plant several seeds as well. I can only prepare the field. God will do everything else.

I have all sorts of pondering thoughts in my head that come to mind. It makes you stop and truly think on things.

A final example would be this…

It is the year 2020 God created us. Now, the Bible says in Matthew 7:13-14 KJV Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

When it says the way it is speaking of Jesus. Jesus is the way the truth the life. So, we X number of people currently alive now in 2020 before that how many excepted Jesus. For if it is narrow and few find it that is truly disheartening to hear.

This is why I created a blog to try and reach out this way besides using facebook as another mean of communication. I want to reach whom ever and as many as possible so that they will know beyond a doubt that they know Jesus and they know 100% that they are going to heaven.

Welcome to ask any questions and I will try my best to answer them and if I don’t know the answer I will find out for you.

Early Bird Catches The Worm

We all know the saying Early bird catches the worm. I tend to put it a bit more into pracrice then the average person. I have my alarm set two hours before I have to be at work. I tend to arrive anywhere from an hour to 2 hours early or more pending the day. I almost always do devotional and share it first along with scripture and music. Sometimes I struggle waking so I read a book to get my mind to focus in the morning. I am a huge fan of capturing the beauty that surrounds me. Sunrise/Sunset to flowers to people or places pending what the day holds. I love the quite and stillness of the morning before the sun rises and everything slowly begins to wake or go to sleep pending the night animals.

Sunrise the slow climb of the sun rising in the east.
Sunset as the sun descends to the west.
A beautiful flower captured in blinding sun with my eyes closed praying to capture it.

I wanted it as a reminder of the beauty of creation that surrounds me from nature to animals to people. All were created by God’s hands and He said it was good.

If we are not careful we will regret not stopping to enjoy quite moments of life. I find that if you can get some quite moments you have a more joyous out look. First thing in the morning then again at the end of the day is time to just be still. To find the beauty that surrounds you, go for walks listening to music.

I’m avid reader from Victorian era to fantasy. Two all time favorite authors are Lori Wick I love all her books to S. L. Morgan The Guardian Series. I am also a history fan as well.

My ultimate favorite book too read is the Bible. You have your history there along with the present. It shows you what was and is to come. Some great books I enjoy from the Bible is Luke, Ruth, Psalms, and Proverbs. I truly enjoy all of the books hard to just simply limit to just a collection by the end I would name all of the books.

Civil War is a huge part of history I enjoy reading. There is more to the story than simply the battles that took place. The people themselves and what they did before the war and their work after. A time where brothers were fighting brothers and it wasn’t all 100% related to slavery. Slavery wasn’t just part of the south but the north as well.

So many interesting parts of American history. From leaving so we can establish the freedoms we wanted based on our Faith and establishing the Constitution. We have amazing history that we have worked hard to get where we are today. To remove it and destory it is a terrible shame. The sacrifices of those men and woman and families have been tossed to the side like it never mattered to begin with. If it never did we wouldn’t have the freedoms we have today.

The sky is another peaceful moment I love to look at and capture as seen below.

The night sky at church part 1.
The night sky at church part 2 same night as the one above. See how the colors change each time you look up.
The moon has come out surrounded by clouds.

I encourage you to be the early bird snd see what you find. To be in the moment and be still and see what is waiting for you each day. God bless you and your loved ones. John 3:16-17 King James Version.

Today’s Devotional Verse

Put them in mind to be subject to principalities and powers, to obey magistrates, to be ready to every good work, To speak evil of no man, to be no brawlers, but gentle, shewing all meekness unto all men. For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another. Day 8 of 30 day devotional.

It is an easy business to preach, an appallingly easy thing to tell other people what to do; it is another thing to have God’s message turned into a boomerang—“You have been teaching these people that they should be full of peace and joy, but what about yourself? Are you full of peace and joy?” The truthful witness is the one who lets his light shine in works which exhibit the disposition of Jesus; one who lives the truth as well as preaches it.

The way God’s life manifests itself in joy is in a peace which has no desire for praise. When a man delivers a message which he knows is the message of God, the witness to the fulfillment of the created purpose is given instantly, the peace of God settles down, and the man cares for neither praise nor blame from anyone.

Reflection Questions: What truth do I preach better than I practice? Is there unresolved conflict between me and someone else that is like a shade pulled over the light of Christ in me? What pride keeps me from making peace?

Today’s Devotional Verse

Then judgment shall dwell in the wilderness, and righteousness remain in the fruitful field. And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever. And my people shall dwell in a peaceable habitation, and in sure dwellings, and in quiet resting places; When it shall hail, coming down on the forest; and the city shall be low in a low place. Isaiah 32:16‭-‬19 KJV https://bible.com/bible/1/isa.32.16-19.KJV

Day 7 of 30 day devotional.

Which are the days that have furthered you most in the knowledge of God—the days of sunshine and peace and prosperity? Never! The days of adversity, the days of strain, the days of sudden surprises, the days when the earthly house of this tabernacle was strained to its last limit, those are the days when you learned the meaning of this passion of “Go.” Any great calamity in the natural world—death, disease, bereavement—will awaken a man when nothing else would, and he is never the same again. We would never know the “treasures of darkness” if we were always in the place of placid security.

In spite of all our sense of uncleanness, in spite of all our rush and interest in the work of the world, and in spite of all our logic, the implicit sense of God will come and disturb our peace.

Reflection Questions: What does trouble teach me about peace? Do I welcome God to interrupt my life or have I put a “Do Not Disturb” sign on the door of my life?
