7 Day Thanksgiving Devotional Day 5:

Enter His gates with thanksgiving, and His courts with praise.

Give thanks to Him; bless His name.

(Psalm 100:4)

The subscript of this Psalm says it is a song of thanksgiving or giving grateful praise. Have you discovered that praise flows best from a grateful heart? That’s why it is such a great idea to do what the classic “Thanksgiving Hymn” suggests – “count your blessings, name them one by one, count your blessings see what God has done.”

During this season, I trust you will do just that – make time to reflect on what God has done in your life. That way, you won’t just be passing the food to others on Thanksgiving Day, you’ll be passing God’s goodness and blessings, too.

7 Day Thanksgiving Day Devotional Day 4:

But you, when you pray, go into your inner room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees in secret will repay you.

(Matthew 6:6)

Prayer is often taken for granted. It can become vague or “other worldly.” Yet of all the things the disciples observed Jesus doing, one thing impacted their lives like nothing else. They saw Him praying. As they witnessed the results of His prayers to His Father, they craved that same spiritual strength and heavenly intimacy. “Teach us to pray,” they requested… and He did. Prayer is the believer’s lifeline to God, and it’s a powerful connection! So find your “inner room”, “shut your door,” and pray to your Heavenly Father. He’s waiting there just for you.

No matter the turn of events God is on the throne never to leave you nor forsake you. You may wonder why or think you are alone but you are not alone. As to why only God can answer that question when you see him but He can give you peace about whatever you are going through and what is to come.
