28 Day Devotional, Day 24:
Call To Action
The time had come for Nehemiah to announce the task for God’s people to accomplish. His burning desire was to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem so his beloved Jewish nation would not suffer reproach and shame any longer. God’s anointing was on Nehemiah and the divine motivation was motivating him. Now it was time for the call to action.
Would the people listen? Would they obey this newly arrived ambassador? We find ourselves listening to the pastor or minister preach God’s Word and the need for action. Is God stirring your heart? Is the Holy Spirit gently moving upon your heart to do something? We may not understand what the journey will involve, but we must take the first step and respond to the invitation.
Prayer: Lord, when you stir my heart and call me to action, please help me to step out in faith and obey. If your messenger calls for response, then I want to do your will and obey. May your name be glorified in my life. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
Nehemiah 2:17 KJV
Then said I unto them, Ye see the distress that we are in, how Jerusalem lieth waste, and the gates thereof are burned with fire: come, and let us build up the wall of Jerusalem, that we be no more a reproach.

28 Day Devotional, Day 23:
Stronger Than The Enemy
When a God-fearing, obedient believer is seeking God’s Will and fulfilling His purposes, then the enemy of our souls will be on the attack. Nehemiah had just arrived with letters of protection from King Artaxerxes to begin his mission of rebuilding Jerusalem’s walls. Nehemiah possessed the heavenly wisdom to seek the king’s approval and protection for his assignment, and trouble began to stir when Nehemiah arrived on the scene.
This Biblical principle is evident in the life of Paul throughout his life on his evangelical journeys. This is to be expected when we serve God with our whole heart. The good news is God is our Protector and He is greater and stronger than our enemy! He lives, He loves us, and is our Most High God!
Prayer: Praise Your Name, Mighty God! You are all powerful and all knowing. I commit this day, my life, and my talents unto you so that your will be done. May I fulfill the purposes you have for my life so that your kingdom will come on earth. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
Nehemiah 2:10 KJV
When Sanballat the Horonite, and Tobiah the servant, the Ammonite, heard of it, it grieved them exceedingly that there was come a man to seek the welfare of the children of Israel.

28 Day Devotional, Day 22:
Your Native Homeland
The Games of the XXXI Olympiad, or commonly known as the 2016 Olympics, hosts 10,500 athletes representing 206 nations. The games feature 28 Olympic sports and award 306 sets of medals. Do you get tears in your eyes or a swelling in your chest when your home country wins a medal?
How about when your national anthem is played as your country’s flag ascends the flagpole? Do you sense a national honor or pride? Nehemiah possessed a deep Jewish soul mindset for his native homeland – God’s promised land – back in Jerusalem.
Nehemiah felt strongly about God’s people and city. What a wonderful lesson for us to long for becoming a “chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that we may proclaim the excellencies of him who called us out of darkness into His marvelous light (1 Peter 2:9).” Is your heart set on heaven and the kingdom of God?
Prayer: Heavenly Father, just as Nehemiah had a strong devotion and connection with his Jewish heritage, may you also allow me a sense of connection to your holy nation that I too may recognize the need for prayer for your chosen people. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
Nehemiah 1:10 KJV
Now these are thy servants and thy people, whom thou hast redeemed by thy great power, and by thy strong hand.

Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert. Isaiah 43:19 KJV https://bible.com/bible/1/isa.43.19.KJV
