I will be breaking down the verses from above one by one. I will leave you commentaries of those I like who go more in depth if you want to dive deeper into the study.

John 14:15- Is pretty straight forward if you Love the Father you will keep His commandments. It’s the same as if you love your parents you will obey and do as they ask. Our love of the Father should drive us to obey and keep His commandments.

John 14:16- Jesus will intercede on our behalf to the Father and ask that a comforter will be present in His absence. This comforter is the Holy Spirit that will dewell within us.

John 14:17- The reason the world cannot receive the Spirit of Truth nor see him is because they do not believe in him. Your lack of belief is what separates you from the Father His Son and the Holy Spirit. When you believe on Him, His Holy Spirit is present within you.

John 14:18- Jesus is speaking that when He leaves this world He wouldn’t leave us alone. The Holy Spirit will come unto those who believe and He will dewell with His people and comfort them in times of trouble and trials.

John 14:19- A little while speaks of Jeuss time left before He leaves this world and goes to the cross to rise again three days later. After which He will remain with the Father until His second coming ( Matthew 24:44 KJV). Second part soeaks of death and how it cannot hold Him and He arose again on the third day. Those that believe receive eternal life (John 3:16 KJV).

John 14:20- The commentary below is the most helpful in explaining this verse. I won’t attempt a summary of this verse as it is quite invovled.

John 14:20- This verse takes you back to verse 15, because we do keep the commandments and love Him. He returns that love to us and the Father and will manefest Himself within us.

I went to the Bible Study Tool to help explain manifest: not in a visible way, or in a corporeal form, as he did to his disciples after his resurrection; but in a spiritual manner, as when he makes himself known to his people in ordinances, and favours them with communion with him, and they see His beauty, His fulness, His grace and His righteousness, His power, and His glory.

I hope this was a bit helpful and the commentaries helps explain more if you want a more in depth study of the verses.

God bless you and your loved ones.
