Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; Colossians 2:14 KJV https://bible.com/bible/1/col.2.14.KJV

Day 4 of 7 Day Devotional.
Protector:
Colossians 2:14 (TPT) “He canceled out every legal violation we had on our record and the old arrest warrant that stood to indict us. He erased it all- our sins, our stained soul – he deleted it all and they cannot be retrieved! Everything we once were in Adam has been placed onto his cross and nailed permanently there as a public display of cancellation.”
The song “Protector” is a little unusual in that it starts out with a very bold statement, right out of the gate. The first line of the song says, “I come out of agreement with the lie.” When we accept Jesus into our heart and surrender to Him, as it says in Colossians, everything we once were, is nailed to the Cross. The death and resurrection of Jesus is the atonement for our sins and the promise of new life. But sometimes, we still live as if we haven’t been set free. Sometimes we still believe the voice of the accuser. And sometimes, the next and necessary step for us to take is to verbally speak out loud and break the agreement with the lies we are believing. But sometimes, we still live as if we haven’t been set free. Sometimes we still believe the voice of the accuser. And sometimes, the next and necessary step for us to take is to verbally speak out loud and break the agreement with the lies we are believing. The Bible say that life and death is in the power of the tongue (Proverbs 18:21) and sometimes we need to take a bold stance against the lying voice of the enemy, which tries to convince us that we are still bound to the old man. But the truth is that we have been redeemed through the Cross! This means that the next step after breaking the agreements with the lies, is to come into agreement and alignment with the truth of Who God is and who God says we are. That is what this song is all about! It’s not just another “church song” to sing on a Sunday morning; it is a powerful statement and weapon to wield against our enemy! This song is meant to bring greater freedom to those who hear it and sing it.
To call God “Protector”, is not just naming another attribute of God or coming up with a clever new line for a song. It is a posture of surrender. We are saying that we trust God with our whole heart. We trust Him to protect us, to lead us, to care for us, and to never fail us. Today as you read this scripture and listen to the song, break free of the lies you have been believing about yourself and about God! Ask Him to open your eyes to reveal what those are, nail them to the Cross, and come into agreement with the truth that God speaks over you.

Day 3 of 7 Day Devotional.
Come Through:
Ephesians 2:10 (TPT) “We have become his poetry, a re-created people that will fulfill the destiny he has given each of us, for we are joined to Jesus, the Anointed One. Even before we were born, God planned in advance our destiny and the good works we would do to fulfill it!”
While singing and recording “Come Through”, there was a really beautiful, vulnerable moment of spontaneous worship. As I was singing the words to the chorus, “All I’ve ever known and all You’ve ever shown, is love that’s willing to go to the ends of the earth for me”, I suddenly felt overwhelmed by God’s kindness. I realized that there was a time in my life when I would not have been able to say those words.
My parents divorced when I was four, I had three stepfathers after that, lived through abuse, and by the time I was a teenager, I was consumed with pain and anger. When I finally truly surrendered my life to Jesus, He led me on a journey to become whole, healed, and breaking free from the bondage and chains that bound me. In that process, I realized that a lot of my anger was aimed at God. I felt betrayed and abandoned. I had so many questions that I couldn’t seem to find the answers to. It was only when I chose God above my questions and fully released my heart to Him, was I able to see through new eyes. I suddenly saw how God had been there with me the whole time, through every moment of pain.
I saw how justice, according to God, looked more like me being alive and aligning my heart with His, rather than revenge on those who had hurt me. I saw how God has used the pain of the past to create a strength and resiliency inside of me. I understand what redemption means and what it looks like. The new life that Jesus offers us is one that rewrites our story and takes the brokenness of the past and turns it around. The redeeming power of Jesus is what allows me to look back at my life and not just see pain, but see my Heavenly Father who loves me and never left me through it all. He is the God who will come through for you. He will not fail you. His timing may not always be understood, but it is perfect!
