Going through the Bible a chapter a day.

In chapter 16 you see the lack of faith both Sarai and Abram had in God.

Sarai had yet to have a child and isntead of waiting on the Lord she took matters in her own hand. She gave her husband Hagar a handmaid (servant) to her husband to lay with to bare a child.

Abram listened to his wife and obeyed her command to lay with Hagar. He didn’t seek out God or say no but simply listened to his wife. He submitted to her and doing as she asked.

My bible says for verses: 1-6 Ancient documents reveal that when a woman could not provide her husband with a child, she could give her female slave as a wife and claim the child a union as her own. While Hagar is not on equal standing with Sarai, her status does change when she becomes a slave wife. If she produces the heir, she could be the primary wife in the eyes of society. According to verses 4-5, in Hagar’s opinion Sarai had been demoted. The Hebrew word translated despised means “to be treated lightly or with contempt.”

Often times we want to take matters into our own hands and not wait on the Lord. When we do that we face with the consequences of our actions. So trust and wait on the Lord and His timing.

There is much that has come to be since Sarai and Abram not waiting and trusting in God but taking matters into their own hand and Hagar giving birth to Ishmael.

Ishmael you will see later on in Genesis, he had twelve sons, who became the founders of so many Arab tribes or colonies, the Ishmaelites, who spread over the wide desert spaces of Northern Arabia from the Red Sea to the Euphrates (Genesis 37:25, 27, 2839:1), “their hand against every man, and every man’s hand against them.” (The King James Bible Dictionary).

One choice can change everything. It takes but one decision and your life is changed forever. I’ve come to be more aware of how things could have been if things went a different way and yet it all was meant to be the way it was. It is why you cannot go backwards in time to change it.

For instance the attack on Pearl Harbor could have taken more lives if there were more men on board, seeing as it was Sunday most of the men were at church less lives where taken that day. That does not mean it was okay for the other lives to be taken only that if another day was chosen where the men where not at church then the fleet and all its men could have been lost. One choice one decision one course can could have changed the outcome of what happen that day. Gettysburg Stone Wall Jackson of the Southern Army was killed 3 days before Gettysburg. Joshua Chamberlain of the Northern Army was at Gettysburg and afterwards the battle there they were sent to Little Round top to rest from the battle that had just taken place at Gettysburg. They had no idea the south was going to send troops through Little Round top. So what men he had left he charged down the mountain to defend it. They had to hold their ground for if they didn’t it would be over and the south would win.

Small moments of time might not seem like they matter but they do. Each time something took place it could have all ended up different if one thing had been different. Next time you feel discouraged remember to wait and have faith and trust in the Lord and His timing for you. He wants to give you abundance and be all you need but you have to surrender to Him first. It’s His will for you not what your will be by making it for yourself.

Will you let Him be in charge of your life or will you be like Sarai and Arbam and take matter into your own hands?

God bless you and your family.

31 Days Of Healing & Recovery

Day 16:

Mark 5:21-43 KJV
And when Jesus was passed over again by ship unto the other side, much people gathered unto him: and he was nigh unto the sea.
And, behold, there cometh one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name; and when he saw him, he fell at his feet,
And besought him greatly, saying, My little daughter lieth at the point of death: I pray thee, come and lay thy hands on her, that she may be healed; and she shall live.
And Jesus went with him; and much people followed him, and thronged him.
And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years,
And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse,
When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment.
For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole.
And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague.
And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of him, turned him about in the press, and said, Who touched my clothes?
And his disciples said unto him, Thou seest the multitude thronging thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me?
And he looked round about to see her that had done this thing.
But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what was done in her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth.
And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague.
While he yet spake, there came from the ruler of the synagogue’s house certain which said, Thy daughter is dead: why troublest thou the Master any further?
As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he saith unto the ruler of the synagogue, Be not afraid, only believe.
And he suffered no man to follow him, save Peter, and James, and John the brother of James.
And he cometh to the house of the ruler of the synagogue, and seeth the tumult, and them that wept and wailed greatly.
And when he was come in, he saith unto them, Why make ye this ado, and weep? the damsel is not dead, but sleepeth.
And they laughed him to scorn. But when he had put them all out, he taketh the father and the mother of the damsel, and them that were with him, and entereth in where the damsel was lying.
And he took the damsel by the hand, and said unto her, Talitha cumi; which is, being interpreted, Damsel, I say unto thee, arise.
And straightway the damsel arose, and walked; for she was of the age of twelve years. And they were astonished with a great astonishment.
And he charged them straitly that no man should know it; and commanded that something should be given her to eat.

Matthew 19:26 KJV
But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.

Isaiah 41:13 KJV
For I the Lord thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee.

Isaiah 26:3 KJV
Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.

A two things to point out.

Starting with verse 6: Abraham believed in the Lord and that faith was counted towards righteousness. God desires Faith from His people.

Verse 13: The dream he has speaks of the future generations being held captive in Egypt for 400 years until set free from captivity.

Amazing to see how everything took place and how God was still in control.

God bless you and your loved ones.

31 Days Of Healing and Recovery

Day 15:

Deuteronomy 28:61 KJV
Also every sickness, and every plague, which is not written in the book of this law, them will the Lord bring upon thee, until thou be destroyed.

Galatians 3:13-14 KJV
Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:
That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

John 17:17 KJV
Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

Day 14:

Mark 7:31-37 KJV
And again, departing from the coasts of Tyre and Sidon, he came unto the sea of Galilee, through the midst of the coasts of Decapolis.
And they bring unto him one that was deaf, and had an impediment in his speech; and they beseech him to put his hand upon him.
And he took him aside from the multitude, and put his fingers into his ears, and he spit, and touched his tongue;
And looking up to heaven, he sighed, and saith unto him, Ephphatha, that is, Be opened.
And straightway his ears were opened, and the string of his tongue was loosed, and he spake plain.
And he charged them that they should tell no man: but the more he charged them, so much the more a great deal they published it;
And were beyond measure astonished, saying, He hath done all things well: he maketh both the deaf to hear, and the dumb to speak.

Luke 4:16-21 KJV
And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read.
And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written,
The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him.
And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.

Hebrews 11:6 KJV
But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

31 Days Of Healing and Recovery

Day 13:

Mark 9:14-27 KJV
And when he came to his disciples, he saw a great multitude about them, and the scribes questioning with them.
And straightway all the people, when they beheld him, were greatly amazed, and running to him saluted him.
And he asked the scribes, What question ye with them?
And one of the multitude answered and said, Master, I have brought unto thee my son, which hath a dumb spirit;
And wheresoever he taketh him, he teareth him: and he foameth, and gnasheth with his teeth, and pineth away: and I spake to thy disciples that they should cast him out; and they could not.
He answereth him, and saith, O faithless generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him unto me.
And they brought him unto him: and when he saw him, straightway the spirit tare him; and he fell on the ground, and wallowed foaming.
And he asked his father, How long is it ago since this came unto him? And he said, Of a child.
And ofttimes it hath cast him into the fire, and into the waters, to destroy him: but if thou canst do any thing, have compassion on us, and help us.
Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.
And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.
When Jesus saw that the people came running together, he rebuked the foul spirit, saying unto him, Thou dumb and deaf spirit, I charge thee, come out of him, and enter no more into him.
And the spirit cried, and rent him sore, and came out of him: and he was as one dead; insomuch that many said, He is dead.
But Jesus took him by the hand, and lifted him up; and he arose.

Luke 4:40-41 KJV
Now when the sun was setting, all they that had any sick with divers diseases brought them unto him; and he laid his hands on every one of them, and healed them.
And devils also came out of many, crying out, and saying, Thou art Christ the Son of God. And he rebuking them suffered them not to speak: for they knew that he was Christ.

Romans 10:17 KJV
So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
