28 Day Devotional, Day 15:

I’m Serious, Lord

We’d have to admit that Daniel took prayer seriously. He dressed differently. He ate differently. He prayed passionately, based on his understanding of Scriptures (the prophet Jeremiah). The word ‘pleaded’ here is to beg repeatedly; to ask again and again. Daniel knew 70 years was nearly up and if anything was going to happen, God had to do it. How passionate are we about praying?

Prayer: Forgive me, Lord, for the fact that prayers sometimes become routine. When I compare my communication with you and Daniel’s, I can see plenty of room for improvement. I want to learn to pray with passion and conviction. So help me, Lord. In Jesus’ precious Name, Amen.

Daniel 9:3 KJV
And I set my face unto the Lord God, to seek by prayer and supplications, with fasting, and sackcloth, and ashes:

Going through the Bible a chapter a day.

In the story of Joseph you can clearly see that God is with him amd never leaves him and keeps him safe from harm.

In chapter 39: we see Joseph is brought into the land of Egypt; unto Potiphar a officer of Pharaoh, captain of the guard (vs 1). Joseph prospered for the Lord was with him and the Potiphar took notice God’s hand on Joseph (vs 3). Verse 7-20; you see Potiphar’s wife take notice of Joseph and try to proposition him. When Potiphar learned from his wife what Joseph had done he sent him to prison. He believed the lie his wife told him (vs 19-20). God was with Joseph while he was in prison (vs 21-23).

Chapter 40: While Joseph was in prison 2 officers of Pharaoh joined him as they had offened the Pharaoh. When they came Joseph was tasken to serve them both (vs 4). Verses 4-11; Joseph interrupts the dreams of the two men that were sent down there. One was a Chief butler the other was a Chief Baker. Verse 12-19; the two men are troubled by the dreams they each are having and no understanding of it. It is revealed that there is a one with a positive outcome who gets to return to his position and another negative outcome. The Butler would return to his previous work and the baker would be hanged. Verses 20-23; we see Joseph’s interpretation of the dreams come true that was revealed to him by God.

Chapter 41: Paraoh has a dream and none in the that came could interpret the dream. Verses 9-14 see where the chief Butler remembers Joseph had interpret his dream and seeked Joseph to interpret the Paraoh’s dream; (40:14) Joseph asked that he remember him and the Chief butler forgot about him for 2 years up until this moment). Verse 15-16; Joseph makes it clear that it is God who reveals what the Pharaoh’s dreams mean to him. Verses 17-36 Paraoh tells Joseph his dream and Jospeh interprets it but makes it clear that it is coming from God (vs 25, 28, & 32). From explaining the dreams amd finding good it to be good in the presences of the Paraoh he is then made into an advisor and officer of the Egyptian government. Joseph is then given a wife and she bares him two sons.

Chapter 42 through chpater 44: (In 41 it is revealed that there would be 7 years of good harvest and 7 years of famine and that doing the 7 good years they are needing to preserve all they can to make it for the 7 years of famine throughout the land). This brings Joseph’s brothers to him during the time of famine. He recognized them but they did not recognize Joseph. Joseph tests his brother’s characters to see if they have changed and to find out about his father discreetly manor as they don’t know he is Joseph the one they sold. Joseph gives larger and better serving to Benjamin (the youngest brother) Joseph has a stweard to place his silver cup into Benjamin’s bag. It is discovered the next day ss the brother’s set out to leave and go back home to Jacob. Judah asks to take Benjamin’s place instead as their father can’t not bare to have Benjamin not return he would die having already lost one son.

Chapter 45 Joseph reveals himself to his brothers. Thr Paraoh having heard that Joseph’s brothers are with him sent more to give his brethren and Joseph saw that the command was done. The brother’s return unto their father Jacob snd reveal Joseph is alive and that he is governor of all the land of Egypt and Jacob doesn’t believe them. They tell him what Joseph said and seen the wagons and all that they were given his spirit revives again and he prepares to go see his son Joseph before he dies.

Amazing to see how God provided and protected Joseph and met his needs. Kept him from harm when others wished to harm him or attack his character. Those whom were over Joseph couldn’t help but see God was with him.

Others should see God within us for they saw God within Jospeh, should it not be the same for us?

God bless you and your loved ones.

28 Day Devotional, Day 14:

We Are The Chosen Ones, His Promises Never Fail

God had chosen Abraham, and what He promised Abraham, God did not fail. Our God is a God that cannot lie. God will keep all His promises to those He has chosen. All who believe in Christ are His chosen ones, and His love and promises will never fail if we obey Him. God will protect us, bless us and remember us like He remembered Abraham.

Prayer: Thank you, Lord, for revealing your character, your attributes and your nature through the story of Abraham. Thank you for choosing us and never failing in your promises to us. Holy Spirit, help us to obey you and walk with you. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Genesis 18:19 KJV
For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the Lord, to do justice and judgment; that the Lord may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him.
